According to some studies Creatine can improve performance during repeated high-intensity exercise of short duration, such as weight lifting and sprinting, but has not been noted of benefit in purely aerobic exercises. Other research notes creatine to be more effective in healthy young adults than in older individuals.

Creatine supplementation is also noted to often increase muscle size, although this is believed to be due to increased water retention in the muscle and not an increase in lean body mass.
