Food scientists at Cornell University were able to reduce tumor incidence in rats up to 44 percent with by feeding the equivalent of up to 6 apples per day.
The same scientists found the antioxidants in fresh apples inhibited human liver and colon cancer growth years earlier.
The researchers also noted that increased consumption of fruits and vegetables also lower cardiovascular diseases and other chronic diseases such as cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, central neurodegenerative disease and diabetes.
