  • In a recent study subjects who slept only 4 hours a night for 2 nights had increase in hormones that cause hunger
  • In another study people who sleep less had a higher body mass index, indicating overweight
  • Both studies showed increase in ghrelin, which stimulates appetite and decrease in leptin, which tells you when you’re full, when subjects slept less

    Conclusion: Lack of sleep may contribute to weight gain
