Summary:
20 cancer patients, referred by their physicians, participated in a
supervised program of aerobic training, strength training, and flexibility
in a health club setting
After 10 weeks the patients showed improvement in endurance and strength
Patients also improved in measures of quality of life after the program
Conclusion:
This may be the first published study of resistance training
for cancer patients outside an acute rehab setting, and the program can be
duplicated elsewhere.
