    Summary:

  • Overweight women were given reduced calorie meals and assigned to one of 4 activity regimens
  • Groups were moderate or vigorous intensity walking for 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 or 3-1/2 to 5 hours/week
  • Women in all groups lost 13-20 pounds and kept it off for a year

    Conclusion: Amount of weight loss and fitness improvement did not differ among groups so moderate activity was as good as vigorous in this study
