Airline cargo workers were assigned to 4 different groups in a back pain
prevention study
Groups were (1) lifting instruction and wearing lumbar support (2)
instruction only (3) lumbar support only (4) no intervention
There was no significant difference among the groups in incidence of back
pain or sick leave.
Conclusion:
The researchers determined that neither education nor lumbar
supports could be recommended for prevention of low back pain in industry.
