    TRAINING MAY RAISE METABOLISM

Source: International Journal of Sports Nutrition

    Summary:

  • A group of women between 18 and 46 were divided into aerobically trained, resistance trained, and untrained
  • Further divisions were into highly trained, moderately trained, and untrained
  • There was no significant difference among groups in resting metabolic rate (RMR), but there was a trend toward higher RMR in highly trained subjects

    Conclusion:
Greater training intensity may raise RMR, which would increase number of calories burned at rest.
