Endurance trained cyclists performed moderate exercise in warm conditions for 122 minutes
Subjects were given water with or without carbohydrate or just carbohydrate
Maximal neuromuscular power was similar in all trials at 26 minutes but declined at the end about 15% in carb and placebo trials, about 10% in water only, and about 7% in water plus carb trial
Conclusion: During moderate exercise in warm environment, water plus carbohydrate attenuates decline in maximal power more than water alone, and carbohydrate alone has no effect
