    Summary:

  • In a 9-week study of chromium supplementation at 400 micrograms/day, obese young women were assigned to one of four groups.
  • The group with chromium picolinate supplementation alone gained weight, the group who exercised and took chromium nicotinate lost weight, and no significant weight change was seen in exercise plus placebo or exercise plus Cr picolinate groups.
  • This is the first study to indicate exercise combined with chromium nicotinate supplements may be beneficial for weight loss.
