    WEIGHT TRAINING DOESN'T INCREASE CYCLING

    Summary:

  • Endurance trained female cyclists were assigned to high resistance, low repetition strength training (squats) or control group
  • After 12 weeks, leg strength increased significantly in the strength training group
  • There were no significant changes in performance on a 1-hour cycling test

    Conclusion:
    In this study, increased leg strength did not improve endurance performance, although it had in prrevious studies, suggesting that factors such as training protocol may be involved
