Summary:
Subjects were tested for psychobiological response to resistance training at 50% and 80% of 1RM
State anxiety was reduced significantly at 180 minutes after the 50% workout but not the 80% test
No difference was noted between experienced and non-experienced participants
Conclusion:
A resistance training session at 50% 1RM (3 sets, 12-20 reps, 4 exercises) was associated with decreased vigor for 20 minutes immediately after and decreased state anxiety after 180 minutes
