In a recent study, mothers reported average amount of sleep for their child at 6 months, 1
year, and 2 years, plus time spent watching TV
Children who slept less than 12 hours a day were twice as likely to be overweight at age 3
than those who slept longer
Sleeping less than 12 hours and watching TV for 2 hours led to greater chance of
overweight by age 3
Conclusion: Decreased sleep can be hazardous to health, even for infants and
toddlers
