    Summary:

  • Middle aged men who did not exercise were assigned to a fairly rigorous program of aerobic exercise for 1 hour, 5 times a week, for 3 months
  • For the study, published in Metabolism, they were told to eat enough to compensate for calories expended, so they would not lose weight
  • At the end of the study, subjects had lost about an inch at the waist and had lower levels of an inflammatory chemical produced by fat

    Conclusion: Regular exercise has health benefits even without weight loss.
