Low risk lifestyle factors (non-smoking, waist-hip ratio less than .85, and physical activity) were used in study of myocardial infarction (MI) in women
Low risk diet (high intake vegetables, fruit, whole grains, fish), combined with moderate alcohol consumption and 3 low-risk lifestyle behaviors, was associated with 92% less risk of MI than for women without any low-risk diet and lifestyle factors
Combination of healthy behaviors, found in 5% of the study population, may prevent 77% of MIs
Conclusion: Most myocardial infarctions in women may be prevented by healthy diet and lifestyle factors
