FAT INTAKE CAN BE TOO LOW

    Source: Circulation/Harvard Health Letter

    Summary:

  • Government guidelines recommend no more than 30% of daily calories from fat, including 10% or less saturated fat
  • Recent studies indicate that cutting fat to 15% or less may raise triglycerides and lower beneficial HDL cholesterol, which could increase the risk of heart disease
  • In general, about 25% seems to be the best level of fat intake for maintaining HDL and reducing LDL

    Comment:
Don't sacrifice health goals for weight loss goals
