Health experts worry about health affects from the first over-the-counter (OTC) fat burning pill approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The new drug (alli) is about half the strength of the prescription version of the drug (Xenical) and will be available for people 18 and older.

Many public health experts feel that the drug is a big mistake, that it gives about 1/2 of those who use it gastrointestinal side effects, has significant inhibition of some vitamins and that studies of the prescription version of the drug have been associated with pre-cancerous lesions.

Comment: Once again health experts feel the FDA is giving into pressures from pharmaceutical companies to push a drug through to the public, knowing that proper diet & exercise are the only proven safe way to lose weight.
