Summary:
When 8,000 children were followed from kindergarten to third grade several observations were made about family and children’s lifestyles as it relates to weight gain.
One of the more notable study revelations was that the risk of being persistently overweight increased by 3 percent for every additional hour a child spent watching TV each week.
Maintaining a healthy weight for the whole family requires everyone working together, including eating together as the study shows that each family meal missed per week increases the risk of being persistently overweight by 8 percent.
Conclusion: Many of the considerations concerning improving our health are simple lifestyle considerations like family's spending more time eating dinner together and watching less TV.
