Summary:
Study examined relationship between walking and body composition in middle-aged African-American women
Participants wore a step-counting pedometer for 7 days and then were classified by activity level of less than 5000, 5000-7499, and 7500 or more steps per day
Those in higher activity group had body composition variables different than those in low activity group
Conclusion: Women who walked more had significantly lower body fat percentage, body mass index, and waist and hip circumferences than others
