    Treadmill Running Compared to Circuit Training

    Summary:

  • Responses of subjects during treadmill running and circuit resistance training (CRT) were compared
  • Treadmill running increased oxygen use more rapidly, and CRT elicited higher heartrate at same 50% VO2.
  • Weights for CRT were chosen at 40% 1RM to allow completion of session of 10 reps of 10 exercises for 4.6 circuits

    Conclusion: CRT is useful to develop local muscular endurance and can help improve tolerance of environments with high cardio demands
