    Combined Strength and Cardio Training Effective

    Summary:

  • Older men were divided into groups that exercised twice a week, either 2 days resistance training, 2 days cardio, or 1 day each
  • Subjects were tested after 8 and 16 weeks
  • There were no significant differences between resistance and mixed groups in strength or muscle gains, or between cardio and mixed groups in maximal peak power in cycling tests

    Conclusion: Similar gains were found in mixed and single type training for older men
