MORE of me... |
I would constantly dance around the house and beg my mother to put me into ballet lessons. After much persuasion she finally agreed and thus begun fourteen years of hard work, dedication and passion to excel in an art form which is not for the faint-hearted! I attended the McDonald College of Performing Arts where I learnt ballet before, during and after school hours. I was in my element- how lucky was I to be going to school and being able to do what I loved?! I left school at sixteen to take up ballet full-time, taking my training to an elite level and being accepted into the Premier State Ballet Company dancing lead roles in The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.
Two years later I had to come to the sad realization that I taken my ballet career as far as I could. A ballerina is an aesthetic image of ethereal slimness and nature had not intended me that way developing too many curves in all the wrong places! In addition, reoccurring injuries of stress fractures & broken bones cemented my decision to end my ballet career at the ripe old age of eighteen.
