Aja is originally from New Iberia Louisiana, where she was a collegiate sprinter at Louisiana State University (LSU). Her discipline and hard work ethic were instilled in her at an early age through this and other sports.

With regard to discipline and sports, Aja states that "I didn't realize it at the time, but the discipline that I learned through track & field is what I attribute my current success to today."
