Windjector

Review by Joann Bally CSCS

The Windjector is an intriguing piece of equipment. Yet another device for strengthening your “core,” it’s a lightweight rod with wing-like things at the ends. The “wings” catch air and use that for resistance. Moving a large surface against resistance (even air) engages your core muscles. The classes I watched looked quite graceful, but I imagine getting those things to go just where you want them takes some concentration. You can also do conventional weight training moves. I think it would be fun to try these in different environments and see how twisting or turning the device affects your workout. The Windjector is great for groups and can be used by individuals who have even a little experience with weight training, aerobics, or dance. I think it would be confusing to a total beginner, but I don’t see any reason most people can’t use it, even wheelchair exercisers.
