Thought I would enlighten with some side-effects associated with creatine. Muscle cramps, heat intolerance, muscle strain, gastrointestinal effects (stomach cramps, nause, vomiting and diarhea). Water retention commonly occurs during initial creatine supplementation and may explain the weight gain observed in users. CNS effects reported have included: nervousness, anxiety, headache and fatigue. Based on additional workload to the kidneys, it is not recommended for a person with a history of renal dysfunction. You should monitor your renal function (go to a doctor) for chronic users. During the Spring of 1998, the US FDA (Food Drug Administration) issued s warning to consumers to consult a physician prior to using creatine supplements, based on a lack of data regarding its long-term safety. The FDA is currently monitoring adverse events reported following the use of creatine supplements. I hope this helps some of your questions, I made my son stop taking it due to some of the side-effects he experienced and by tracking down information.
