You should eat 5-6 smaller meals per day. A good guideline for fat loss is 12 calories per pound of bodyweight. So let's say you weight 200 pounds. Multiply that by 12 and you get 2400 calories per day to lose fat. Divide that by the 6 meals per day and you get 400 calories per meal. From there, you space the meals out about 2 1/2 to 3 hours apart. And don't stress about each meal being exactly at the target level. If one is 350 and another 450 it's OK. If you start going off by more than 100 calories then it might create a problem.
