I am not in the carbs-are-the-enemy crowd. It is easily proven that you must have carbs present to perform the activity that you need to keep lean and fit, and fat cannot be burned without the presence of glucose. Carbs are not the problem.
It is total caloric intake, meal frequency and timing, and what else you eat in addition to the carbs that you must be concerned with.
Of course, I am talking about complex carbs, not sugars. Some sugars can even fit into your program, such as fruits, in moderation.
A sound principle, which has been taken and adulterated by the gimmick salesmen, is the idea that you can correct a temporary surplus of carbs in your diet by cutting back on simple carbs, particularly in the evening.
I don't think it's a good idea to reduce carbs in the first two-thirds of the day; doing so increases the likelihood that you will undereat, lose weight too quickly, and slow your metabolism.
