the rest your muscles need depend on your genetic ability for recovery and how intense the workout on the muscle or muscle group was.
your suggestion of superslow/normal is fine, just don't do it every time.
if you work out to the points of failure or near failure, the muscle(s) most likely need at least 1 or 2 days off. this ISN'T to say if you worked your legs with weights that the next day you shouldn't go for a jog. this is precisely the type of activity(ies) you want to engage in.
