Hey, I asked this before but nobody helped, ab questions

Ok, I was told that I should work my upper body hard 1 day and then 2 days later work it easy 1 day, and then wait 3 days then work hard again. They also said you could do your abs every day. I think that if you should let your upper body muscles rest you should also let your abs rest. Can anybody clear this up for me?
