Bowflex question

Hi there...

I'm new to strength training...

I've just recieved my new Bowflex and I'm confused about a couple of things:

1) which routine do I follow? I'd like to be lean and muscular with very apparent muscles but not gross looking :)

2) why do they give different exercise routines but the routines don't employ all of the possible exercises available? When would one actually do those other excercises that aren't listed in a routine?
