Love Handles are just fat pads on our bodies that happen to be on our sides where we want them least (as always). You are right in thinking that fat is fat, and needs a combination of dietary control and work. For more detail on this subject, please see Article Archives for the article "Can you spot reduce?" Also you may add some walking or running to your cardio regimen as weight bearing cardio is more effective for fat loss than is non weight bearing cardio such as swimming and bicycling. We are also in the process of creating programs specifically addressing such goals as fat loss. Please stay tuned for them in the near future.
