This message is assuming Steph is short for Stephanie and you are a woman.
Women are physiologically less likely to get bulky muscles in their upper body than men, so it's certainly worth risking the extra arm exercises. You can always stop if you do begin to get too big - and then they'll just shrink again!
Another thing that might help is that I've found out body builders try to avoid doing aerobic exercises on the same day as their weights, because they say it stops the muscles bulking up properly. Perhaps you could therefore take the opposite approach and always do a cardiovascular workout immediately after the resistance exercises?
