I hate to be the one to tell you this, but by your self-description, you are a classic ectomorph. That means that you are best suited for endurance sports, not muscle building.
Does this mean that you can't maximize your muscle potential? Absolutely not, but you have to be realistic about what types of sports in which you can excel.
I'm sure that you know that there is no way (short of some risky surgery) to increase the size of your ribcage. You can improve the appearance and size of your chest with the exercises that you described.
