I have been walking for the past year and have gained even more
weight. I am so depressed. Is there anything I can do to raise my metabolism?
I'm a great advocate of walking, which has many health benefits, and I don't
want to say it's been oversold, but in one sense it has. Few people are
going to lose much weight by walking only. Usually, some caloric reduction
is necessary, but exercise is vital for maintaining weight loss. If you
feel your diet is ok, it may be worth a visit to a registered dietician to
confirm that and/or get some dietary advice. Also, if you're not walking at
least 15 miles a week it won't have much impact on weight loss, although
there are still health benefits. You may also want to add some strength
training, which may raise your metabolism. Revise your workout, check your
diet, and don't get discouraged.
That's it for this time,
