  • exercise program to lose 20 lbs in a month .

    Hi,

    I have been working out at least 3 times a week to slim down, particular around my waist line with no results. Could you please advise on an exercise program that can help me lose 20 pounds within a month as well as reduce the fat around my stomach.

    Hello Jeanne-Marie:

    Great that you have begun a workout program to improve your health, fitness and body!

    Unfortunately working out (even if you improve your diet with lower fat, less meat & higher nutrition foods) often takes longer than people think. Just like gaining weight happened over time, so does losing extra pounds.

    In addition there is not a healthy method of losing 20 pounds within a month...no matter what the advertisements tote. Rapid weight loss is caused by drastic changes that do nothing to improve your health and most often result in weight gain over time.

    The best bet is for your workout to be enough to make you sweat from 20 minutes (beginning) up to 45 minutes or an (1) hour (advanced) 5 or 6 days each week. This means concentrating on cardiovascular workouts like fast walking, jogging, biking, swimming, aerobic exercises/machines & the like along with weight training several times each week.

    In the long run you will be happier if you choose to realistically stick with an exercise plan that includes improving your eating habits enough to lose up to 2-3 pounds in a week. When you reach your goal, experiment with ways to stay there that allow you to enjoy exercising & without cutting out all of your favorite foods.

    Remember to enjoy the Holiday Season & feel good about your active lifestyle that you don't have to be too restrictive at dining get togethers!
