  • slim my arms without making them muscular .

    hi,

    I am a big girl but pretty proportioned, my only complaint would be my arms-they are huge!! I am currently working on losing weight but afraid if I start lifting light weights or using my resistance band my arms will only bulk up. How do I slim my arms down with out making them to muscular?

    Hello LM;

    Great that you are interested in losing some extra weight! No matter what issues there are with excess body fat and where it is at, cardiovascular exercise is key to burning calories and stored fat.

    You didn't mention what activities or exercises you are currently engaged in, so lets start there. Cardio workouts should be performed from 5-6 days each week and need to last at least 20-30 minutes for beginners (or those just getting back into a routine) and from 40-60 minutes for the rest of us.

    As far as weight lifting and "bulking up" is concerned, not to worry (if big muscles were so easy to attain so many wouldn't ask advice on how to build muscles!). 20-30 minutes of light weight training before your cardio workout will assist you in forming the shape you desire.

    Ask your gym manager or a personal trainer to show you a dumbbell or machine full-body workout routine that emphasizes shoulders, chest and arms. This should be performed at least 3 times each week in addition to your cardio workouts.
