Are there guidelines published by health club/gym.

Are there guidelines published by health club/gym
organizations re the
temperature that a gym or club should be kept at? What
organizations exist to
develop such guidelines?
Thanks.
Various organizations have various suggestions. For example, the National
Strength and Conditioning Association suggests 22-26 degC (71.6-78.8 degF)
for weight rooms. The YMCA gives a general facility guideline of 60-80
degF, which would include aerobic as well as weight areas. Both want the
relative humidity under 60%. The American College of Sports Medicine
(www.acsm.com)has recently addressed the lack of guidelines with ACSM's
Health/Fitness Facility Standards and Guidelines (published by Human
Kinetics). This volume will probably become the industry standard but will
still be advisory only as there is no way to compel compliance.
That's it for this time,
