going to make it more difficult. thanks.
First of all, it is not too late to begin an
exercise program. Although fitness levels are easier to reach and maintain in
our 40's if we have been fit and athletic when we were young, beginning a
fitness program at any age shows results. As far as a "hard body" is
concerned, it depends on how dedicated we are to our goals, and what we
consider hard. Good results can be made at your age. The best way to
approach the task is to attack it from several angles. Diet should be cleaned
up of its fat, salt, and sugar content. Fresh vegetables, fruit, and whole
grains should start to become a mainstay. Protein sources should be from lean
meats, skinless chicken, and fish. Snack foods and alcohol should be limited.
Your exercise program should have both cardiovascular and weight training
components. If you are not currently in shape, start slowly, both with
cardiovascular and weight movements, and make progress as your body allows
you. Don't try to push too hard, especially when you are sore or your joints
ache. Give yourself time to heal from the activity. Pace yourself with small
goals and you will realize after awhile that you have indeed become a "hard
