Female Model & BioD on the 30th Day
The first 29 days have concentrated on you changing as an individual. Now taking your knowlege and working collectively with others to improve our environment is the next logical step.
Do an internet search to find local organizations to contact
and begin interacting with like-minded members. If at the end of the search, nothing suits your interest, consider creating a group email list for those you want to receive and understand your own message of becoming more green and the ease by which they can
accomplish this.
When following the 30ways30days concepts, you become an active stakeholder in your personal investment in preserving not just our
Earth, but our existence. The pride from simply just doing the right thing for the Earth offers immediate and fulfilling rewards.
You will realize the eco-mindset after you have the overwhelming feeling of being horrified when you witness an egregious, unnecessary act that threatens both life and habitat...that could have easily been
avoided.
Attempt to surround yourself with other individuals, groups and businesses that are like-minded in your personal quest to continually improve your own environment. Various economic challenges, along with both adversity & negativity that you will inevitably face, often make the mission appear impossible. But what do you do, stop? Those who live contrary to your understanding often lash back because they have justified their position for one reason or another. It is part of human nature to fight for a
position that you feel is acceptable. Those in denial of the importance for each of us to do our part to live more responsibly are often motivated by not wanting to change...not wanting to sacrifice, whether that sacrifice is real or perceived.
I personally support individual freedoms and am not very receptive to the idea of the government or anyone else dictating otherwise. This works in almost every setting...other than personal health and the environment. If you smoke around me and I don't
want the exposure, there is greater opportunity for me to move or leave the room than if someone (or company) is dumping chemicals into the drain or the air. We cannot control our exposure from that, and this is why you must be as proactive as possible in your
efforts to help keep measures to control these issues.
This is about not just talking the talk, but walking and living the lifestyle first. Living by example will help to illustrate your commitment, and it will encourage others to evaluate their own behaviors. The more you learn about becoming more responsible, the more you will see how far we as a society must go. Discussions with others along the way will also reveal how important it is to offer your time to explain yourself.
Look at what organizations may be right for you to get involved with or support financially. When giving, it is important to distinguish what percent of your gift actually goes to the cause...websites often make this available.
