If you are the owner, it is much easier for you to initiate a solid eco-friendly office program than it is for those who are working for a boss or multiple bosses. Just a few changes made by a small or medium-sized business is more noticeable when combined with other businesses doing the same positive changes. As a minimum, no matter what your totem-pole position, be sure to request as much recycled paper, energy efficient lights, temperature moderation, insulation of windows, proper weather stripping and alternative energy as your position allows. At the very least, be sure to have some type of office paper, aluminum and plastics recycling program in place.
Conserving resources and cutting down on waste saves money, and all businesses understand a bottom line. Unhappy workers at these companies must refrain from trying to negatively impact the company by leaving lights, appliances or computers on over the weekend and should take as much concern about energy conservation as is done at home.
Keep some of these practices in mind:
Have an active recycling program
Buy recycled paper products
Lessen mailings
Use more emailing over faxing
The Building;
Leaking faucets/toilets
Ambient room temperatures
Toilet dams
Energy efficient appliances
Landscaping;
Type of landscaping
Timing of watering lawns
Replacing grass & shrubs
